Jaguar has quashed rumours that it has killed off the Daimler marque.

The company said it intends to launch new Daimler products, although it would not reveal details of its plans.

Daimler was bought by Jaguar in 1960, and more exclusive, luxurious versions of Jaguar cars wore the Daimler badge. The most recent was the Limousine, which ceased production in 1992.

Jaguar's XJ luxury car is the most likely model to be turned into a Daimler, although no timescale has been put on its arrival.
