Official pictures of the sleek Hyundai Genesis Coupe have been leaked onto the Internet.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe will have more power than ever, and a rear-wheel-drive chassis.

The car is due to debut at the New York Motor Show this week and still has the exciting styling of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe concept attention-grabber from the Detroit Motor Show in January.

The range-topping model has a 3.6-litre V6 with a huge 310bhp – almost twice as much as the 162bhp produced by the 2.7-litre V6 found in the current Hyundai Coupe SIII.

We would expect this to propel the fast Hyundai from 0-60mph in under six seconds and see it easily reach beyond 150mph.

Less expensive models in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe range will get a 2-litre, turbocharged engine producing 211bhp which should accelerate them from 0-60mph in less than seven seconds.

As well as the power increase, the rear-wheel-drive will be fitted with a limited slip differential. This device stops the rear wheels slipping away power – making it the most exciting Hyundai yet.

But it’s not known if the sexy coupe will be sold in the UK, as it has been designed with the USA and Korea in mind.

The car may be deemed too costly to modify the model to right-hand-drive and ensure it passes the very strict European vehicle regulations.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be on the Hyundai stand at the 2008 British International Motor Show from 23 July to 3 August at London’s Excel.
