Honda is making a welcome return to the supercar scene, after pulling the covers off its latest exotic concept.

Launched at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Advanced Sports Car Concept is said to give a sneak preview of the next NSX.

Badged as Acura – Honda's American luxury and sportscar brand – the ASCC packs a high performance V10 engine and four wheel drive.

The concept features 19-inch front and 20-inch rear custom built, polished aluminium wheels and racecar-derived carbon ceramic brakes.

Its dramatic styling was penned by the Los Angeles-based Acura Design Centre and features racy styling influences such as embossed bonnet vents and grip-enhancing spoilers.

The Honda NSX – which F1 legend Ayrton Senna helped design – was axed in 2005 after 15 years in production.
