Type S Civic for British show
|
29 June 2006 The Type S is the same size as the five-door version of the small family car, and will go on sale in January 2007. The three-door version will be powered either by a 1.8-litre petrol or 2.2-litre diesel, each rated at 138bhp. The diesel has a six-speed manual gearbox, and buyers of the petrol can choose between the manual gearbox or Honda's automated manual (AMT) i-Shift transmission. Honda says for it has tuned the Civic suspension for a more sporty ride. This theme continues with sporty body styling, a deep front air intake and a new-shape rear side window. The Type S has two trims. Standard models come with 17-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, a coolbox and remote audio controls, while the Type S GT has goodies such as a panoramic glass roof, cruise control and automatic wipers and headlamps. Honda has yet to confirm prices for the Type S, but expect to pay at least £17,500. Eventually, Honda is likely to offer three-door Civics in other trims without the sporty features of the Type S. Prices for these are likely to start at around £12,400 for an 82bhp 1.4-litre model. It had been widely rumoured that a Type RR concept version of the Civic with around 240bhp would appear at the show, but Honda denies this. |
