Diesel CR-V in the wings
01 July 2004 The 138bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine used in the Accord saloon and estate will be available in the 4x4 range from April. Diesel CR-Vs will probably cost between £18,000 and £22,000 depending on specification, and are to cost around £1100 more than the equivalent 2.0-litre petrol models. Performance figures aren't yet available, but we'd expect the diesel cars to return more than 40mpg on the combined cycle, compared with 31mpg for the petrol, while emissions should drop from the 29% company car tax bracket to under 25%. The diesel CR-V should be quicker and more flexible than rivals such as the Nissan X-trail and Toyota RAV4, because it will have significantly greater pulling power. |
