Time is up for Honda HR-V
19 October 2005 The soft-roader' will be phased out because most buyers prefer the greater practicality and more conventional 4x4 styling of its big brother, the CR-V. The £15,300 HR-V 1.6 - the only model available - will be phased out and no direct replacement is due, a Honda official confirmed. Insiders admit the HR-V is too similar in size and price to the CR-V and that buyers are confused by the two models. Both have four-wheel drive, but the CR-V is better suited to light off-road work and is available with a diesel engine, unlike the HR-V. The CR-V was Britain's third best-selling off-roader last year, behind the Land Rover Freelander and Toyota RAV4. It will continue to be sold until a new 4x4 replacement arrives in 2007. |
