Honda seeks high-mileage Insight
05 August 2004 The company wants to find the best-presented Insight petrol-electric hybrid with a recorded mileage of 100,000 miles or more. It aims to highlight how much its owners will have saved in fuel bills and tax, thanks to the hybrid's potential 83.1mpg combined fuel economy and low carbon dioxide emissions. Honda will replace the successful owner's Insight with a new £15,013 Civic IMA hybrid family car. Its 57.7mpg economy might not be as frugal as the Insight's, but it seats five, has a large boot and still sits in a special 12% company car tax band. Honda believes there are 250 potential winners running Insights in the UK at the moment. A successor is tipped to arrive at the end of next year and is said to differ only slightly from the radical IMA coupé concept unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2003.
