Prices and full equipment spec lists for the Ford Focus RS have been announced – with UK buyers getting a cracking deal.

The Ford Focus RS will cost from £24,995 when it goes on sale in March.

Sitting at the top of the Focus range which includes convertibles, estates, hot hatches and green models, the RS will get a unique bodykit with 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the driver and passenger get Recaro sports seats with side bolsters trimmed to match the colour of the car, with the Focus RS available in green, blue and white.

The Focus RS gets air-conditioning, Sony CD player with six-CD autochanger, keyless start, Quickclear heated windscreen and Ford’s Easy Fill which prevents putting diesel in the car.

Customers can opt for two versions of a Luxury Pack, costing £750 and £1,500 each.

The £750 pack gets dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors and tyre deflation-detection with the premium pack gaining a seven-inch colour screen with sat-nav.

Other optional extras include part leather-trimmed seats at £500 and Bluetooth for £200.

Under the bonnet of the Focus RS is a tuned version of the ST’s 2.5-litre engine which produces 300bhp – giving the RS a 0-62mph time of less than six seconds and a targeted top speed of more than 160mph.

It also gets a clever limited slip differential which should prevent understeer and give increased grip while a specially developed version of Ford’s electronic stability programme and traction control should provide the driver with reassurance.
