A Ford Focus RS WRC replica tuned to 330bhp and capable of more than 160mph is for sale on Auto Trader.

Starting out life in 2003 as a standard Ford Focus RS, it was purchased by Yorkshire-based tuning house Pumaspeed who undertook a host of changes on the hot hatch.

Pumaspeed fitted the Ford Focus RS with an uprated turbocharger and exhaust system, costing more than £4,000 – and increasing power from 215bhp and 228lb/ft of pulling power to 330bhp and 325lb/ft.

This makes it more powerful than the recently announced 2009 Ford Focus RS which develops a mere 300bhp.

The result is 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 160mph – making it faster than any standard production hot hatch.

Besides the power hike, Pumaspeed also fitted new suspension springs and brake pads to improve the car’s handling and stopping power.

The Ford Focus RS then had a full WRC bodykit fitted along with a roll cage, racing front seats with harnesses and lightweight wheels.

Launched in 2002, the Focus RS is one of the most popular performance cars ever built by Ford.

So when it was announced Ford would be reviving the legend, petrolheads were delighted – and despite the economic situation the new RS is proving a massive success.

Even though performance figures and prices are yet to be revealed for the 2009 RS, it’s believed more than 1,600 have already ordered one of the models.
