Fiat Bravo buyers will have even more choice following the introduction of a new engine later this month.

Powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine, the latest Fiat Bravo T-Jet produces 120bhp and 152lb/ft of pulling power.

This accelerates the Fiat Bravo from 0-60mph in 9.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 122mph, while managing a combined 42mpg.

There are three trims to choose from: the Fiat Bravo T-Jet 120 Active, the T-Jet 120 Active Sport and the top-of-the-range T-Jet 120 Dynamic.

Expect the Active to include anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution, front and side airbags, radio and CD player and a trip computer. It also boasts Fiat’s two-stage power steering which, by the press of a button, lightens the steering at speeds of less than 20mph.

The Active Sport gets 17-inch alloy wheels, a more aggressive bodykit and a sexier interior with hugging seats and sporty leather steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake.

The range-topping Dynamic adds Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control and steering wheel controls.

The Fiat Bravo 1.4-litre 120bhp T-Jet goes on sale at the end of September with prices starting at £12,895 for the Active rising to £13,995 for the range topping Dynamic.

We’ve driven the Fiat Bravo 1.9-litre 16v MultiJet 150 diesel. This is what we thought of it:

Overall, Fiat has achieved considerable success in meeting their big aims with the Bravo - beauty, safety and performance.

It’s both a stylish and safe car which offers value for money and will ensure the driver stands out among more ubiquitous models.
