One of the UK’s fastest Ferrari F40s is for sale on Auto Trader.

Launched in 1987, the Ferrari F40 was an automotive phenomenon when it became the first ever production car to crack 200mph.

Thanks to a 3-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine developing 478bhp, the Ferrari F40 would accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds before hitting 201mph.

But this 1990 Ferrari F40 is even more powerful thanks to a GTM upgrade – producing around 580bhp thanks to the re-mapping of the engine and a new exhaust system.

While official performance figures aren’t available, the modifications should ensure 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of about 215mph.

On top of the mechanical adjustments, the Ferrari F40 was fitted with a Penske three-way adjustable suspension, six-pot AP racing brakes, Enkei magnesium wheels and a new carbon fibre front splitter and rear spoiler to increase downforce and stability.

It was imported in 1998, with the GTM upgrades taking place between 2001 and 2005 – at a cost of £30,000.

While the value of many supercars from the Eighties have dropped enormously, it’s been the opposite for the F40 – the sign of a genuine classic.

When it went on sale in 1987, a Ferrari F40 would set the buyer back a cool £197,000.

This Ferrari F40 – which has covered just 15,500 miles – can be yours for £275,000 through Deca Motors International.
