22 June 2007 by Adrian Hearn Ferrari is to pull the covers off a Porsche 911-rivalling supercar later this year. The V8–engined ‘baby Ferrari’ will be the first to wear the evocative ‘Dino’ badge since the Dino 308 of 1974, according to German magazine Auto Zeitung.
And we’d expect to see the supercar to be fitted with an F1-derived gearbox and carbon fibre brakes. Dino badged Ferraris are often regarded as some of the most beautiful supercars of all time and are named in memory of Ferrari founder Enzo’s son Alfredo. And insiders believe Italian rivals Lamborghini may unveil a new V8 Gallardo to compete with the Dino. In other news, Ferrari revealed its green plans by unveiling the FXX Millechilli concept – a smaller version of the exceptional Enzo. The Millechilli is a more efficient motor weighing just 1,000kg, but the Maranello-based company claim performance will not be sacrificed.
