BMW has unveiled a new sports saloon at the Shanghai Motor Show in China.

The CS Concept is expected to become the flagship model and will rival the Mercedes CLS and Maserati Quattroporte; as well as the forthcoming Porsche Panamera super saloon-cum-coupe.

Sporting the latest evolution of the controversial Chris Bangle styling direction, the CS' shark-nosed front is reminiscent of the 1950s BMW 507 and more recent Z8 roadster.

Rumours suggest the CS will use a V12 engine producing 700bhp, giving the 5.1-metre motor a sub-five second 0-60mph time and a top speed in excess of 180mph.

The interior has an evolution of BMW's iDrive system, which controls various features, including the stereo, air conditioning, satellite navigation and communication systems.

On the outside, the CS boasts 21-inch alloys with the traditional kidney grille positioned to cool to the M-powered V12 engine.
