‘Green’ Bentley Supersports tops 204mph
25 February 2009
The fastest production car ever built by Bentley will hit Geneva next week – the 204mph Bentley Continental Supersports.
And this sensational new supercar will run on biofuel making it one of the world’s ‘greenest’ 200mph-plus continent crushers.
The Bentley Continental Supersports packs a Ferrari Enzo-rivalling 630bhp – up from 600bhp – accelerates from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds and will hit 100mph from standstill in 8.9 seconds.
It sits on lowered and stiffened suspension, and a set of unique lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels, which house carbon ceramic disc brakes.
Bentley has also fitted a new ‘Quickshift’ version of the car’s six-speed auto box, which claims to reduce gearshift times by up to 50 per cent.
The Conti Supersports gets new air intakes and bonnet vents on the front, bigger rear wheel arches, a spoiler which automatically rises when you hit 50mph and two sculpted lightweight seats trimmed in Alcantara.
Despite its ‘green’ credentials, the big Bentley emits 388g/km of CO2 and will return 17.3mpg on the combined cycle.
The ‘green’ Bentley Continental Supersports joins the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition to give two green options to supercar fans.
The Swedish model is a 1,018bhp hypercar which runs on biofuel and hits a top speed of 254mph – with a price tag of more than £1.5 million.
A highly secretive Gumpert Apollo, Mansory-tuned Bugatti Veyron and a rumoured four-door 800bhp Koenigsegg will make their Geneva motor show debuts alongside the Bentley next week, and we’ll be reporting live from Geneva so don’t forget to come back for all the news as it happens.
