Bentley builds its first 200mph supercar
01 August 2007 Bentley has announced its Continental GT Speed, making it the latest car maker to join the 200mph club. The hot version of the current Continental GT is capable of a blistering 202mph and can accelerate to 60mph from standing in 4.3 seconds. Bentley has boosted power from 552bhp to an eye-watering 600bhp but it claims emissions and fuel consumption have been reduced by 3.5 per cent. The GT Speed can be distinguished from the standard GT by a lower ride height, new 20-inch alloy wheels, larger exhausts and darker mesh in the front bumper and grille. Inside, the GT Speed features the Mulliner Driving Specification pack as standard, which includes alloy pedals, knurled chrome and hide gearlever and diamond-quilted hide on the door cards. The Speed GT is available to order this month, with deliveries expected in late November. A Bentley spokesman confirmed it will cost £137,500, which is £17,000 more than the standard model.
