Roman Abramovich has reportedly splashed out £2 million on a limited edition Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly splashed out £2 million on a limited edition Ferrari 612 Scaglietti – for FORMER blues boss Jose Mourinho.

The Russian oligarch gave Mourinho the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti three days after Chelsea lost to Spurs in the February League Cup Final, despite the fact he’d left the Stamford Bridge outfit in September, 2007.

The book price for the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti with all the extras added is around £250,000.

But with just 60 ever made, billionaire Abramovich – who is the second richest man in the UK behind steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal – had to splash out £2 million for the supercar.

Mourinho was looking for a four-seat Italian car so he could have room in the back to drive his two children round.

But after struggling to locate one, he asked for Abramovich’s help just before his shock Chelsea departure.

Five months after he left Stamford Bridge, the Portuguese supremo was contacted by Chelsea to warn him he was about to have a gift from his former boss delivered. 

And Abramovich had a personal plaque with the words ‘The Special One’ engraved on the Ferrari. 

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is the only four-seat car the Maranello car maker currently builds. Powered by a 5.75-litre V12 engine, the 612 produces 540bhp and 433lb/ft of pulling power.

This gives the supercar a 0-62mph (100kph) time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 199mph.

Despite rife speculation, Jose Mourinho is yet to return to management but he has been linked with a move back to Chelsea after Avram Grant was dismissed at the weekend.
