Chuck Berry’s 1964 hit ‘No Particular Place to Go’ has been voted as the best ever car song.

In a close-knit poll, the Rock and Roll classic received 18 per cent of the votes - just edging out Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’, which got 17 per cent.

Third place went to Gary Numan’s ‘Cars’ followed by Sixties songstress Janice Joplin and then guitar god Jimi Hendrix.

The wooden spoon went to Punk band The Clash for ‘Brand New Cadillac’, which received just 3 per cent.
