Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson was questioned by police after he grabbed a teenager ‘by his hoodie’ and lifted him off the ground.

The motoring megamouth – who famously punched former Mirror editor Piers Morgan – was standing outside the Xscape centre in Milton Keynes smoking a cigarette when a ‘swarm of children approached’.

Writing in The Sun, Clarkson said: “I figured they were fans of Top Gear and wanted to know about Richard Hammond’s head.

“But what they wanted to know most of all was if I had any security.”

Clarkson then grabbed the ringleader by his hoodie and told him to leave.

But despite the Top Gear star’s repeated warnings, the gang refused to leave and began filming the incident on mobile phones.

Clarkson said: “I was holding this boy by the scruff of his neck and instead of worrying about being stabbed I was actually thinking ‘Jesus, I’m going to get done for assault if I’m not careful.’

“I therefore put him down and in a flurry of hand gestures involving various fingers he was gone.”

Thames Valley Police received a call from a 14-year-old girl informing them a man was being abusive towards her friend.

A Thames Valley police spokesperson confirmed the incident, and noted the girl was part of a group who had been warned by security staff about their behaviour earlier in the day.

A police spokesperson said: “Mobile phone images were viewed, as well as CCTV footage, and it became apparent if any offence had occurred, it was the man who was the victim.”

Clarkson was later interviewed at his home in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, when he told police that he did not wish to make a complaint, nor provide a statement.

The 6’5” star was at the Xscape centre in Milton Keynes on 23 November celebrating his youngest daughter’s birthday.

And writing in The Sun, Clarkson – famous for his stinging put downs – has a solution for troublesome teenagers.

“You put all the troublemakers in one class and you give the teacher in charge immunity from criminal charges. And a submachine gun.”
