Wayne Rooney’s old VW Golf for sale
08 October 2009
Want to buy a famous footballer’s motor but can’t afford a supercar?
Auto Trader has a Volkswagen Golf previously owned by Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney.
We understand the striker, who is in a rich vein of form for club and country, bought the 2005 model and owned it for a short period of time before giving to fiancé Coleen’s younger brother.
It’s a three-door 1.6-litre FSI Sport model which develops 115bhp and 114lb/ft of pulling power.
This accelerates the Golf from 0-62mph in 10.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 118mph.
When ordering it Wayne opted for extras including DVD sat-nav with six-CD autochanger and leather seats. Other features on Rooney’s old Golf include 16-inch alloys, colour-coded bodykit and a sports suspension.
Rooney is obviously a big fan of the popular Vee-Dub – he owned a hardcore Volkswagen Golf R32 around the same period.

His other Volkswagen Group cars have included a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Bentley Continental GTC Speed and an Audi RS6 Avant which is his current daily runaround.
Despite not turning 24 for another two weeks, the star striker has had more than 20 cars – totalling in excess of 6,500bhp and £1.4 million.
This Volkswagen Golf, which is no longer owned by the Rooney household but has a receipt signed by Wayne, has covered 35,000 miles and can be yours for £8,200.
