Ronaldo sells his cars thanks to Auto Trader
05 August 2009
Remember Cristiano Ronaldo? He used to play football for Manchester United before joining Real Madrid.
Well just as the Portuguese footballer was leaving for a sunnier climate, he got in touch with an Auto Trader dealer to sell his cars – a Bentley Continental GTC Speed and a 2004 diesel Mercedes C-Class.
That’s right, playboy pin-up Ronaldo with his £130,000-a-week pay packet used to drive 150bhp Merc to the shops to buy his moisturiser, face packs or whatever.
But when you’re one of the most recognisable people in the world you need something inconspicuous to drive round in – because we don’t think he was moonlighting as a cabbie.

The cars were being sold by Manchester dealer Vehicle Consulting and thanks to Auto Trader they sold pretty much instantly. Our story appeared in The Sun and Telegraph and on the radio, getting the attention of Ronaldo’s fan club.
First to go was the Mercedes which was sold to a Man United fan. Well it’s not everyday you get the chance to buy the world’s most expensive footballer’s car, for £10,795.
And his £114,995 Bentley has just been sold too.
The sale of Ronaldo’s cars on Auto Trader near-on brings an end to the £80 million footballer’s ties in the UK with his multi-million pound house reportedly the subject of a bidding war among Manchester City’s growing fleet of super-rich superstars.
Unfortunately we can’t confirm whether or not Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Robinho were in the hunt for Ronaldo’s Mercedes.
Auto Trader is the number one destination for celebrity cars with a Ferrari 599 previously owned by Ronaldo’s replacement Michael Owen selling in the past week. Frank Lampard’s old Mercedes was also snapped up recently.
But if you’re still on the lookout for a footballer’s car don’t fret – we’ve got Peter Crouch’s old Bentley Continental Flying Spur, David Beckham’s former Bentley Arnage and Wayne Rooney’s old Aston Martin Vanquish and Mercedes G55 AMG.
