Jeremy Clarkson calls for women in F1
09 October 2009
Top Gear star and all-round champion of feminism Jeremy Clarkson has called for women to take part in Formula 1.
And the lady most suited to the ultimate form of motorsport? Baroness Thatcher.

In his Top Gear magazine column, Clarkson wrote: “Maybe that’s the answer (to the lack of overtaking in F1).
“The Maggon. She’s small. She’s got the killer instinct. She could be just what the sport needed”.
We’re not overly sure how the 83-year old former PM would get on at the starting grid in Monaco but the BBC would undoubtedly have a ratings hit on their hands.

Despite years of being labelled sexist by many female commentators, Clarkson has never criticised women motorists.
And thanks to their ability to multi-task, he thinks they’d do well in F1.
Clarkson’s vision of women returning to F1 (there have been a few unsuccessful attempts in the past) was after going for a drive on track with Fifth Gear’s Vicki Butler-Henderson.
He wrote: “Jesus, she’s good. I was in an Aston Martin DBS Convertible and she was in a Ferrari California.
“By rights, I should have kicked her arse. I had four more cylinders, a million more horsepower and two more testicles. I couldn’t even get close.
