It�s cover your eyes time: a pristine Bugatti EB 110 supercar was smashed up over the weekend at a motor racing spectacle in Moscow.

More than 100,000 attended the event in the Russian capital to watch David Coulthard, Heikki Kovalainen and Kazuki Nakajama race F1 cars round the Kremlin as part of the second annual Bavaria City Racing.

But during a supercar display the driver of a 1993 Bugatti EB 110 lost control of the rare car and collided with a security barrier � holding the event up for an hour and a half.

The driver was uninjured but the car appears to be seriously damaged � and the EB 110 is one of the rarest supercars in the world.

Built between 1991 and 1995, the EB 110 was the world�s fastest production car for a period, capable of 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 215mph.

It was built to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Ettore Bugatti with just 139 leaving the production line, making it rarer sight than the 253mph Veyron.

A quick search of Auto Trader shows one EB 110 for sale � the world�s only right-hand driver Super Sports model.

Built in 1995, this stunning model has just 5,200 miles on the clock and is for sale with Amari Supercars GB for £299,995.

The Bugatti�s demise is the latest in a line of supercar tragedies this year.

A handful of Lamborghinis have been written off through various incidents this year while a Ferrari Enzo was destroyed when it caught fire.

Even the McLaren F1 hasn�t escaped the Grim Reaper of the supercar world after one caught fire in California June.
