An Audi A4 previously owned by British Touring Car Champion Andy Rouse is for sale on Auto Trader.

Andy Rouse – who is the most successful British Touring Car driver ever, with 60 wins – was the first owner of the 2003 Audi A4.

The premium saloon packs a 129bhp 1.9-litre turbocharged engine, which means it is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in 9.9 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 129mph.

And although not as fast as the Sierra Cosworth’s Rouse was famous for piloting, the Audi will still cover more than 50mpg

It comes fitted with sports seats, alloy wheels, climate control, on-board computer, electric front seats, sports suspension, a concert sound system and a fridge in the glovebox.

Andy Rouse is one of the all-time stars of the British Touring Car Championship, taking the top honours in 1975 and three times back-to-back between 1983 and 1985.

His championship wins came behind the wheel of a Triumph Dolomite Sprint, Alfa Romeo GTV6, Rover Vitesse and a Sierra XR4ti, but it was his efforts in the legendary Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 that he’s most fondly remembered.

The ‘Cossie’ era in the late 1980s saw the big Ford be the car of the series and Rouse’s battles with Steve Soper and Tim Harvey represent some of the closest and most heart-stopping racing ever seen.

After the introduction of the 2-litre Super Touring class in 1991, Andy Rouse ran and drove for the Toyota team, resulting in the previously unraced and unproven Carina taking three wins and third places in the driver and manufacturer championships.

Andy Rouse’s Audi A4 – which comes with a full Audi service history and an unlimited mileage warranty – is advertised for sale by Lockwood and Greenwood of Manchester, for £6,790.
