03 October 2007 by Vijay Pattni A 1983 Bentley Mulsanne Turbo owned by the former leader of the Conservative Party, a BMW X5 owned by Colin Jackson, and a Land Rover Discovery bought by Trinny Woodall are all for sale on Auto Trader. Michael Howard was the second owner of this prestige Bentley Turbo, powered by a turbocharged 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce V8 engine producing 297bhp. This meant the former Tory party leader could float across the country on the campaign trail in ultimate comfort – the aluminium alloy V8 can propel the regal 2-tonne motor to a top speed of 130mph. Inside, the Bentley gets the full complement of luxury motoring, with cream leather seats, wooden door cappings and a highly polished walnut veneered fascia. Howard was famously grilled by political dragon-slayer Jeremy Paxman when, in 1997, Paxman asked him a question over the sacking of a prison governor – 12 times.
