A Ferrari 550 Maranello owned by The Who’s lead guitarist is for sale on Auto Trader.

Legendary rock star Pete Townshend was the first owner of the 1999 Ferrari, which is fitted with a 5.5-litre V12 producing 485bhp and 412lb/ft of pulling power.

This monstrous engine, mated with a six-speed manual gearbox launches the Italian supercar from 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 199mph.

But expect to make regular visits to the petrol station – the 550 manages a combined economy of just 12.3mpg.

Inside, the coupe – which cost £150,000 new – is fitted with brown leather seats and trim, climate control and a top-of-the-range Becker sound system.

The Ferrari 550 Maranello was built from 1996 to 2003, before being replaced by the more powerful 575 model.

In 2000 and 2001 the 550’s engine was named International Engine of the Year.

The Who were one of the world’s biggest rock bands of the Sixties and Seventies, releasing tracks such as My Generation and Pinball Wizard.

Despite the death of band member Keith Moon in 1978 they have remained popular and headlined this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

In addition to topping the charts, Townshend also had success in the film industry helping to write ‘rock operas’ Tommy and cult classic Quadrophenia.

Now you can get your hands on Pete Townshend’s Ferrari – which has covered 29,000 miles and boasts a full Ferrari service history – for £47,945.
