04 October 2006 by Adrian Hearn Want a Jaguar with rock star credentials? Auto Trader has one for sale. This 1986 Jaguar XJS was once owned by Iron Maiden’s lead guitarist, Adrian Smith. Smith joined the heavy metal band in 1980 and has had a major role in the band’s success. Iron Maiden have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide. Powered by a 5.3-litre V12 which produces 285bhp, the convertible Jag has a top speed of 153mph. The long-nosed coupe sprints to 60mph in just 6.7 seconds and features a full service history and all the original documentation. Introduced in 1976 as a replacement for the iconic E-Type, the XJS was manufactured until 1996, before being replaced the following year by the XK8. The coupe has covered just 79,000 miles and had new Pirelli tyres fitted just 1,000 miles ago. Now you can get your hands on this rare classic for just £5,500. Auto Trader is THE place for rock stars’ cars. In the last few months we’ve featured Jaguars owned by Eric Clapton and Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay. Links Hat trick of football captain's cars |
