Next TT will be a good sport
25 June 2004 The shape of the new TT is being kept under wraps, although the prominent grille design seen on the latest Audis, including the A3 Sportback, is sure to feature. Audi is working hard to ensure the second-generation car offers an even sportier drive. Prices are likely to kick off at about £22,000 to £23,000 for the coupe, while a roadster version is tipped to arrive by the spring of 2006 for around £2000 more. Power outputs are expected to start at the same 150bhp as the current family, although the top-of-the-range car is likely to have as much as 350bhp. A bigger brother for the TT is likely to arrive in 2007 to take on the BMW 6-series and forthcoming Mercedes-Benz CLS. The Audi coupe will be closely based on the Nuvolari concept car seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003. It should cost from less than £40,000 and be joined by a convertible by the end of 2007. Also in the pipeline, and tipped to go on sale around the middle of 2007, is a range-topping Le Mans coupe. The car could develop more than 600bhp and cost up to around £90,000. |
