Power boost for Audi TT
05 August 2005 A new turbocharged 1.8-litre petrol engine is now used for entry-level coupes and roadsters, which rise in power from 148bhp to 161bhp. Their 0-62mph acceleration time is cut by more than half a second to 8.2sec, while top speed increases 1mph to 135mph. Now with 10bhp more shove, the 187bhp 1.8-litre model cuts half a second off the 0-62mph time, which now stands at 7.4sec. Top speed increases 5mph to 145mph. Only the 237bhp 1.8-litre and 247bhp 3.2-litre V6 models receive no rise in power. The manufacturer says the performance improvements have been achieved without any worsening of fuel consumption or emissions. The TT's prices also remain unchanged and range from £21,090 to £32,360.
