Not set to be officially unveiled until the Geneva Motor Show next month, the A5 takes elements of its styling from the new TT model, while sharing notable similarities with the BMW 3-Series coupe.

Performance details haven’t been released but expect to see a choice of engines including a 3-litre turbo diesel and a 4.2-litre V8 engine producing in excess of 400bhp.

It’s likely the A5 will also feature a front-wheel drive system on the lower spec models along with the Quattro four-wheel-drive for the upper range.

Initial images suggest a six-speed manual gearbox but there should also be the choice of the exceptional DSG semi-automatic ‘box as seen on the TT and Volkswagen Golf GTi.
