Face-lifted Audi A3 revealed
|
24 April 2008 Images of the facelifted Audi A3 have just been released, showing off its sporty new look. The biggest change is at the front of the car – the latest Audi A3 will benefit from ultra-modern headlights. These will feature a bright strip of LED lights across their brow, which mimic those appearing on the sensational Audi R8 supercar. The Audi A3’s new bonnet has been re-sculpted along with the front bumper, although changes are subtle. Powerful versions of the Audi A3 will feature a prominent chrome grille with bold vertical struts.
Under its skin, the Audi hatchback will feature a newly designed seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox. For the first time the Audi A3 Sportback may be offered in top-performance S3 guise with a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine offering around 260bhp. With power channelled to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro system, it should sprint from 0-60mph in less than six seconds and offer excellent handling. The Audi A3 will also be available with ‘Audi magnetic ride’ for the first time. This system can change the stiffness of the suspension in a fraction of a second, and drivers will be able to choose between comfort and sport modes to suit their driving style. All diesel engines in the range have been fitted with more efficient injection technology, which should allow owners to save money at the pumps. Prices for the facelifted Audi A3 have not yet been announced, but we would expect them to be similar to the current range, which spans from £15,540 to £27,320. |
