Power boost for A4
04 May 2005 The four-wheel-drive A4 DTM, inspired by the German touring car championship, produces 217bhp, 20bhp more than the A4 2.0 T it is based on. The extra power cuts its 0-62mph sprint time to 7.1sec, 0.1sec less than standard, and increases its top speed from 149mph to 153mph. However, the A4 DTM costs £29,980, a sizeable £5000 more than the A4 2.0 T Quattro S Line model. For the money, buyers get lowered sport suspension and upgraded brakes, while the car also gets a makeover inside and out. New 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted, plus a remodelled front bumper with extra air intakes and a carbon-fibre spoiler. Door mirrors can also be specified in contrasting black at no extra cost. Leather Recaro bucket seats are found inside, along with carbon-fibre trim from the Audi S4. The A4 DTM is available to order now, although deliveries are not expected until the autumn when the RS4 version of the car also arrives. With 414bhp, the RS4 is likely to cost more than £50,000. |
