Audi TT Roadster announced
18 October 2006
Audi has released pictures of the Roadster version of its popular TT.
The new model retains a soft top which opens or closes in 12 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 30mph.
Like its coupe counterpart, the Roadster minimises weight by using 58 per cent aluminium and 42 per cent steel, making it 30kg lighter than the original.
The Roadster will be available in two models; a front-wheel-drive, 196bhp 2-litre turbo and a 245bhp 3.2-litre four-wheel-drive V6 Quattro.
Sprinting from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, the 2.0 model has a top speed of 147mph and boasts and impressive 36.2mpg, while the Quattro hits 62mph 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited speed of 155mph.
The 2.0 features 17-inch alloys, half-leather interior, and electronic climate control, while the fully loaded Quattro benefits from full-leather, an enhanced braking system and 18-inch alloys.
Available from Spring 2007, the 2.0 will cost £26,915 with the sportier Quattro costing £31,535.
