Audi has launched new estate and cabriolet versions of its RS4 quattro.

Both models will be available late summer: the cabriolet costs £59,625 while the Avant costs £51,825.

Like the saloon, the open top and estate versions have a 4.2-litre 414bhp engine along with Audi's FSI fuel-injection system. Both cars accelerate 0-60mph in 4.9s, - one tenth of a second slower than the saloon and have a limited top speed of 155mph.

Both cars have the saloon's four-wheel drive system, where 60% of the power goes through the back wheels and 40% to the front.

Specification is similar to the RS4 saloon launched earlier this year. However Avant comes with additional matt aluminium roof rails and the cabriolet will have a silk nappa leather interior.

The cabriolet's roof can be opened in 21 seconds at speeds of up to 30mph. It is 195kg heavier that the saloon, partly because Audi has added extra rigidity to the chassis to keep ride and handling similar to the saloon.

The cabriolet has an acoustic hood which is supposed to keep noise levels inside the car on a par with the saloon. It has front and side airbags as standard and rollover bars behind the rear seats that activate if the car over turns.

It also comes with Recaro electrically adjustable sports seats as standard - the saloon and the Avant are fitted with adjustable RS4 bucket seats.

On the Avant a level load area can be created by folding down the detached rear seats. Load space is 442 litres, or 1354 with the seats folded down.
