Aston Martin was today named the coolest brand in the UK – thanks to the James Bond effect.

New 007 Daniel Craig drove the all-new Aston Martin DBS in the recent blockbuster ‘Casino Royale’.

Ferrari also made the list at number 11, with fellow Italian supercar brand Lamborghini ranked 17th. Superbike manufacturer Ducati also featured at number 12.

Superbrands’ CoolBrands Council said: “The success of Casino Royale – and the rekindled love affair between the British public and Bond as a result – shows there is a deeply ingrained association with the man and the car in the minds of Britons”.

Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin, Dr Ulrich Bez, said: “To be voted the UK’s coolest brand for the second year running proves the growth of our brand is consistent and ongoing.

“Our exciting, design-led programme of new models and unparalleled attention to detail has made a major impact in the world of international culture”.

The £160,000 Aston Martin DBS was officially launched at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show and is the fastest production Aston ever.

Powered by a V12 engine developing a mammoth 510bhp, it accelerates from 0-62mph (100kph) in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 191mph.
