Alfa Spider selling out

Just 80 Alfa Romeo Spider convertibles are still available to buy new in the UK, following the end of production of the current two-seater.

A next-generation version of the car does not arrive until the summer of 2006, but the manufacturer says logistical reasons have forced it to end production of the current model already.

The entry-level 2.0 TS Turismo has now sold out. Prices remain unchanged for the two remaining Lusso models, however, at £23,510 for the 165bhp 2.0-litre JTS and £28,300 for the 240bhp 3.2-litre V6. Buyers who haggle should easily be able to get at least £2000 knocked off this asking price.

Metallic paint is now available as standard in red, blue or grey, a saving of £360, and unique new 17-inch alloy wheels are also fitted.

The GTV coupe equivalent of the Spider will be replaced in the spring of 2006.
