A Kia pro_cee’d has won its respective class in the world famous Nürbürgring 24-hour race – before driving back to Milan!

The diesel-powered Kia pro_cee’d was driven to the German track from Milan where it completed 111 laps of the 25km track before heading back to the Italian city after completing the victory.

And despite covering almost 2,300 miles, no mechanical faults were reported for the 3-door Kia pro_cee’d hatchback, which averaged 20mpg over the 24-hours.

This bodes well for the Korean car’s reliability which comes with an unprecedented seven-year warranty as standard.

The Kia pro_cee’d used in the race remained nearly completely standard with just a roll cage, fire extinguisher, six-point safety harness and a tuned braking and suspension system added.

A total of 217 cars took part in the marathon motor race with the pro_cee’d coming in 104th out of the 150 which finished the race.

The race was won overall by Manthay Racing for the third year running with a Porsche 911 GT3.

Kia’s Paul Philpott said: “The result demonstrates the fantastic build quality from our factory in Zilina. If a near standard car can drive so far in one of the toughest races in the world, it underlines why we offer it with a seven-year, 100,000 mile warranty.”

The Kia pro_cee’d went on sale at the start of the year joining the five-door hatchbach and sport wagon models in the range with prices starting from £11,795 for the entry-level 1.4-litre petrol model.
