‘World’s best’ Lamborghini LM002 for sale

This 1992 model is thought to be the last ever customer-registered Lamborghini LM002 to roll of the production line and has the chassis number 300 of 301.

It’s believed just five or six Lamborghini LM002s are in the UK, but none are as special as this model, which has covered just 27,000 miles.

Powered by a 5.2-litre V12 engine from the Lamborghini Countach supercar, the LM002 produces 444bhp and has a top speed of 130mph – with power channelled to all four-wheels through a manual gearbox.

Built between 1986 and 1992, the Lamborghini LM002 was initially designed as a military vehicle.

But after a host of South American countries withdrew their offers for the car – nicknamed ‘The Rambo Lambo’ – Lamborghini decided to sell to the public.

The first model was delivered to the King of Morocco and other LM002s found famous homes including one to the Sultan of Brunei and another to Rambo himself, Sylvester Stallone.

But they also found in garages of the infamous with former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein’s son Uday owning one.

After the military invasion, the US army took Hussein’s rare motor and blew it up to simulate the effect a ‘Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device’ would have on a car.

Lamborghini Club UK’s David Price told Auto Trader: “I know this LM002 very well and it’s stunning. Having seen the display model at Lamborghini’s museum, I can say this one is the best of its type in the world.

“In 2006 at Auto Italia's Stanford Hall meeting, myself and another LCUK committee member were asked to pick the best Lamborghini attending and award it a trophy.

“This particular LM002 was there and we were in fear/awe of it, so it won.”
