A top tuner has taken the Ferrari F430 Spider and boosted its power to a whopping 656bhp.

Novitec has fitted the Ferrari 430 Spider’s 4.3-litre V8 engine with a twin supercharger upping the supercar’s power from 483bhp to 656bhp.

Performance figures haven’t been released, but another Novitec-tuned Ferrari F430 with the same power accelerates from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 217mph – the same as the awesome £418,000 Ferrari Enzo.

Rolling on 20-inch alloy wheels, the Novitec Spider Supersport features huge yellow brake pads and four massive exhaust pipes, while the lights have been blackened to increase the car’s aggressive stance.

The German tuner has also optimised the Ferrari F430 Spider’s handling, fitting a sportier suspension which can be raised by 40mm at the touch of a button – signalling the end of speedbump problems.

The Ferrari F430 Spider was unveiled in 2005 as a replacement for the Ferrari 360 and sports a sophisticated E-Diff which maximises grip on tight bends, reducing wheel spin.

But it won’t be the world’s most frugal car. The standard Ferrari F430 Spider averages just 15.4mpg so don’t go expecting to get more than 12mpg out of the Novitec model.

And with emissions well in excess of 420g/km means a £300 annual tax bill and a £25 fee to drive into certain parts of London when the congestion charge is revamped in October. (Read our article on the congestion charge changes)

In normal guise the Ferrari F430 Spider costs £137,000 so buyers should expect to pay about £165,000 for the Novitec Spider Supersport.
