BMW has announced the 3-Series Convertible will now be available with its brilliant 2-litre diesel engine.

Available in SE and M Sport trim, the BMW 320d produces a 177bhp and 258lb/ft of pulling power.

This gives the BMW 320d a 0-62mph (100kph) time of 8.3 seconds and on to a top speed 139mph, while boasting an impressive average 53.3mpg.

The SE model has 17-inch alloys while the premium M Sport gets 18-inch alloys, sports seats and sleeker body styling.

Safety features include four airbags, traction control, electronic brake distribution and a Thatcham approved alarm.

The BMW 320d Convertible – which has a three piece metal roof which will open or shut in 22 seconds – will sit alongside the 320i, 325i, 330i, 335i, 325d, 330d and forthcoming M3 in the range.

On sale in March, prices start from £33,100 for the SE model and £35,735 for the sleek M Sport.

BMW has also announced it will be fitting a 3-litre engine into the all-new 1-Series Coupe.

Named the BMW 125i – instead of the more obvious 130i – the 218bhp coupe accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds and has a top speed while managing 35.8mpg.

The BMW 125i Coupe is on sale in March with prices starting from £23,195 for the SE model and £23,050 for the M Sport trim which has 18-inch alloys and a sportier body.

Both cars will be on show at March’s Geneva Motor Show along with a special BMW concept and a host of other models. We’ll be reporting live from the show on March 4 so don’t forget to come back for all the big news and features.
