And the ‘crossover-SUV’ will feature the most powerful engine BMW has fitted in an X model – a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 developing 400bhp and 450lbs/ft of pulling power. This means the two-tonne BMW X6 SUV-coupe can sprint from 0-60mph in just 5.3 seconds – almost as fast as the last-generation M3 – and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. The BMW X6 is the Munich firm’s hotly anticipated coupe-SUV crossover, featuring a raked, coupe-like bodyshape coupled with off-road ability. Featuring a permanent four-wheel-drive setup dubbed “intelligent xDrive” the new BMW X6 can transfer its power to any given wheel, and should continue BMW’s tradition of high-riding X models with outstanding on-road ability. Based on the same platform as BMW’s best-selling X5 SUV, the BMW X6 features four sculptured seats and a luggage space of 25 cubic feet, which the manufacturer claims can “store four full-size golf bags in the luggage compartment – even with four people riding in the vehicle.” Prices for the new BMW X6 have not been announced, but expect to pay around £50,000 for the range-topping 4.4-litre V8 model when it arrives next year. |
