A wild, time-travelling version of the outrageous gull-winged car featured in the 1980s hit film Back to the Future, and is set to feature in the upcoming series Ashes to Ashes the long anticipated follow-up to popular BBC One drama Life on Mars. But the car advertised for sale on autotrader.co.uk lacks the flux capacitor and ability to go back to 1955. This 1981 example is a previous show winner featuring upgrades to the electrical system, and is fitted with a new battery and the original front tyres, along with all the receipts, service manuals and history. The De Lorean has an unpainted brushed stainless steel body which was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro who has also penned Alfa Romeos and Maseratis and features those famous upwards-opening doors, supported by gas-powered hinges.
The De Lorean features a 2.8-litre V6 engine producing 130bhp but dont expect the performance to propel you back into time. Road tests timed its 0-60mph in 10.5 seconds. The De Lorean is one of the most iconic film cars of the 20th Century, and is set to make a welcome return to the small screen when no-nonsense DCI Gene Hunt straps himself into one in the long awaited Ashes to Ashes drama on BBC One, set to be screened early next year. And now you can own a piece of film and television history with this De Lorean DMC-12, for just £26,500. Click here for more pictures of the De Lorean DMC-12 for sale on Auto Trader
