The Ferrari FXX Evoluzione packs a staggering 860bhp from its 6.2-litre V12 engine which revs to 9,500rpm offering devastating performance. The standard Enzo accelerates from 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and sails past the magic 200mph mark before hitting 217mph with 650bhp. With 200bhp more we would expect the FXX to reach 60mph in less than three seconds, giving the Bugatti Veyron a run for its money. Its super-advanced traction control system has nine settings, giving non-professional drivers complete control of the 860bhp under their right foot, and the ability to customise the driving experience with the turn of a knob. Its semi-auto ‘box can shift gears in just 60 milliseconds. Development of the Evoluzione’s cutting edge ceramic brakes means they now stop the car even more effectively, while the brake pads last for twice as long. At the request of the customer test-drivers – including one Michael Schumacher – new wings have been fitted to the rear of the car to increase downforce. In 2005 Ferrari invited 20 people to buy and take an active role in the development of the FXX - a track-only prototype based on the Enzo. The FXX Evoluzione is the result of all that has been learnt after 22,000 miles of flat out driving in 20 FXX customer cars around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track. Each ‘customer’ has 12 drives of their FXX Evoluzione planned over the next two years and the opportunity to organise quick drives of their own – as long as they are at the Maranello test track.
