The official press shots were published by a trigger happy American motoring title well before Nissan’s embargo ended. Hype surrounding the legendary Skyline successor is second only to its performance. The GT-R is no longer a super saloon but a fully blown supercar. Expect the twin-turbocharged V6 engine to produce between 480bhp and 530bhp. It uses its four-wheel-drive trickery to sprint to 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds with minimal wheel-spin. A rumoured top speed of 192mph gives it a massive 37mph advantage over its predecessor. Gear shifting paddles can be clearly seen behind the steering wheel, suggesting that the GT-R will be fitted with a sequential automatic gearbox as standard. It is possible that it uses dual-clutches to change gear faster, in a similar way to Audi and Volkswagen’s DSG gearboxes. The GT-R has been spotted carrying out mile after mile of testing at In June the rapid Nissan made an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, its bumpers covered by a black disguise to hide the final design. The Nissan GT-R will be the star of the Tokyo Motor Show - starting on 26th October – so be sure to come back for all the latest details as they are released.
