28 September 2007
Click here for more pictures of the Vauxhall Corsa SRi The latest Vauxhall Corsa SRi is now available – with a petrol and diesel engine. Buyers of the petrol model will get a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, producing 148bhp and 155lb/ft of pulling power. The SRi accelerates from 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds and onto a 130mph top speed. The diesel Corsa SRi has a 1.7-litre CDTi engine with 123bhp and 206lb/ft of pulling power. Performance is still brisk with 0-60mph taking 9.3 seconds and a 121mph top speed. The diesel will be cheaper to run thanks to its combined 58.9 mpg fuel economy – the petrol achieving a still respectable 35.8mpg. An insurance grouping of 7E for the diesel SRi makes it cheaper to insure than the petrol too. It fits into group 13A, making it a better choice for younger drivers. The Corsa SRi looks the part, fitted with a stylish bodykit and five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels. The suspension has been lowered and tuned to increase driver involvement. An electronic stability programme is standard. Both models are available as a 3 or 5-door. Vauxhall’s latest Corsa SRi is more subtly badged than those of old, but the chrome exhaust and boot spoiler help make it stand out from the crowd. The red-stitching of classic SRi models makes a comeback along with red seatbelts, sports seats, leather steering wheel and alloy pedals. The Vauxhall Corsa SRi will fill a gap in the Corsa line-up between the 89bhp 1.4-litre petrol model and the 189bhp Corsa VXR, which is in insurance group 16.
