Swiss company Acabion has created the craziest production supercar of all time.
It’s faster than a Bugatti Veyron and more economical than a diesel supermini.
Here’s the low-down on the mad Acabion GTBO.
- It’s fitted with a turbocharged 1300cc Suzuki superbike engine producing more than 1500bhp per ton.
- This means acceleration from 0-224mph in 20 seconds and a top speed of 342mph.
- But Acabion maker has limited the top speed to a more conservative 292mph.
- It’s known as a 2+2 wheel concept - running on four wheels at low speed and two wheels at high speeds.
- For low speeds and reversing, the GTBO uses a 2kw electric motor meaning it’s a hybrid - so no Congestion Charge Mr Livingstone.
- At 110mph, Acabion claims the GTBO produces less than a third of carbon emissions than a Toyota Corolla diesel.
- It’s built from carbon fibre and weighs just 360kg.
- Inside it’s fitted with a £130,000, 26-speaker sound system.
- At 62mph it does 75mpg – more than any diesel supermini. And at certain speeds it manages 90mpg.
- There is room for two and the boot’s capacity is 150 litres – half the size of a Vauxhall Corsa’s.
- Just 26 will be produced between 2007 and 2011 with each GTBO taking 3 years to build.
