All-new Audi SUV - first pictures
19 April 2007
Audi has released information on its new compact SUV concept – and Auto Trader has the first pictures. The curvy Audi Cross Coupe Quattro concept is likely to evolve into the Q5; a BMW X3 and Land Rover Freelander-rivalling compact SUV. Building on the success of its Q7 SUV flagship, Audi will pull the wraps off the concept at the Shanghai Motor Show which opens its doors tomorrow. The silver Cross Coupe Quattro concept has an electrically-operated folding fabric roof and 'dual view' screen technology, which can produce different images for the driver and front-seat passenger simultaneously. Under the bonnet sits a 204bhp turbo diesel engine, which uses a filter system to reduce soot and other emissions. Although officially a concept, Audi says the concept SUV is capable of almost 48mpg. Its Audi Drive Select System enables the driver to choose one of three modes which change the characteristics of the engine, gearbox, steering and suspension; including a mode specifically to improve the vehicle's efficiency.
