Beckham’s stolen BMW ‘may be in Macedonia’
12 April 2007
David Beckham could be in for some luck after a car believed to be his was spotted in Europe, driven by a government official. The former England captain’s £70,000 armour-plated BMW X5 (like the one pictured) was stolen over a year ago by a gang targeting luxury vehicles in the Spanish capital Madrid. But last week The Daily Star published photos of an X5 – allegedly Beckham’s – being driven by Macedonian politician Gordana Jankulovska. Now the interior minister has told the BBC that if it does turn out to be David Beckham’s car then she will give it back to him. However, Goldenballs may have trouble convincing the Macedonian government that it was his car. Police spokesman Ivo Kotevski said: “Before it reached Macedonia, the vehicle had changed hands 20 times in Spain, so we have no proof that it belonged to Beckham.” When Beckham had the car stolen, Audi gave the Real Madrid star a top-of-the-range Audi Q7 as a gift.
