C-Charge not in vogue with Madonna
17 February 2006
SHE might be worth £235 million, but Madonna revealed that she's sick of paying the £8 Congestion Charge to drive in London. The Material Girl is eligible for a 90 per cent discount as the Marylebone home she shares with hubby Guy Ritchie lies within the charging zone. However, she refuses to disclose her address and telephone number on the forms that are provided for residents by Transport for London. Yesterday Madge told reporters "I'm so f***ed off about it. I have gotta pay because I won't give my number. It's ridiculous. Why would I give everyone my number?" A TfL spokesman said: "You have to prove you are living in the congestion charge area to get the 90 per cent discount. That means giving your address, which is only fair. "The rules are the same for everyone. No one gets special treatment." Madonna picked up the best International Female Solo Artist award at Wednesday's Brit Awards. | ||
