Extra trimmings for Audi A8
10 March 2005
Audi's A8 luxury car gets a new look this spring as well as upgraded equipment levels, a new Sport option pack, and increased prices.
The car adopts the same bolder grille that has already been seen on the A3 small family car, face-lifted A4 and new A6.
Prices now start at £47,125 for an entry-level 3.0 V6 petrol, an increase of £950. Range-topping long-wheelbase cars using the 6.0-litre engine now cost £77,345, a rise of £1570.
More equipment is fitted as standard, however, including a DVD-based satellite-navigation system, rain and light sensors and a keyless entry and start-up system. Voice-activated controls are also now standard and can operate the radio, CD player, navigation system and telephone.
The new Sport options pack costs £2500 on V6 models from the range and £1900 on V8 cars. It brings 19-inch wheels and suspension that is 20mm lower than on the standard car. Steering wheel-mounted gearchange paddles are fitted in the cabin, which is finished in part-leather, part-Alcantara upholstery.
The A8's six-strong range of engines is carried over unchanged. It includes petrols rated from 220bhp to 444bhp and diesels offering 230bhp or 270bhp.
Blob: BMW recently face-lifted its 7 Series - our online review of the car is available now. Mercedes will also launch an all-new version of its S-Class by the end of the year, while powerful diesel versions are added to the Jaguar XJ range this summer to boost its appeal.
