23 April 2008 Welcome to Vijay Pattni’s Videos of the Week. We’ve been trawling the web for some great motoring clips, from the funny to the plain unbelievable. This is what we found… The name’s Scirocco… Volkswagen Scirocco Military-spec helicopters, high-speed chases, handbrake turns, aircraft hangers and beautiful women – it could be something straight out of a James Bond movie. But for petrolheads – this is one better: the video showcasing the all-new Volkswagen Scirocco. The Scirocco makes a welcome return after a 15-year hiatus and is said to be Volkswagen’s most accomplished coupe to date (which is some feat). Based on the Iroc concept first seen at the 2006 Paris Motor Show, the all-new Volkswagen Scirocco caused a stir when company bosses ripped the covers off the coupe at the 2008 Geneva motor show. And this new video showcases just how cool the new Vee-Dub is…
Is it a Mondeo? Is it a BMW? No – this is the new Vauxhall Insignia The Vauxhall Vectra had a tough old time – berated by Jeremy Clarkson and favoured by sales reps the world over, it suffered poorly from a reputation it didn’t always deserve. But Vauxhall has wiped the slate clean with this – the new Vauxhall Insignia. Set to replace the ageing Vectra, the new Insignia is a completely different animal, and looks set to position the mass-market saloon further up the pecking order. And first impressions are good – the new Insignia looks fantastic, and Vauxhall has answered the calls of petrolheads everywhere by confirming the saloon will be offered in a four-wheel-drive variant. Four-wheel-drive saloon + 260bhp petrol engine = Vauxhall’s very own ‘Quattro.’ Check out the Vauxhall Insignia in action now: Auto Trader takes to the TV You may have noticed Auto Trader’s brand new adverts on your TV screens. And now we’re offering up video reviews too. First off the blocks is the new Honda Accord – built to compete with the all-conquering BMW 3 Series, the new Japanese saloon aims to take a sizable chunk out of the premium small-saloon market. With sharp looks and an involving drive, the Accord has always been a good drive – but does it have the firepower to topple the 3 Series? Find out now, with Web Editor Adrian Higgins as your host…
